How to join this program:
You can book directly through this website, searching for Tai Chi under Programs. The program fees are payable when you first join and then at the start of each new class term.
If you're planning to join anytime during our 3-month class term after the start date, contact us first. We’ll prorate your tuition accordingly. (Students joining in month 3 will automatically be signed up for the next 3-month term, to allow your training to continue uninterrupted.)
Q: Can I pay for one month only?
A: We want committed learners—even if you’re only in it for the recreation. In our experience, students do best when they commit to learning Tai Chi for at least three months.
Q: Can I try a class for free?
A: You are welcome to try a class for $20, by appointment only. These try-out opportunities will be held during classes the first week of each month. Connect with us when you’re ready to get into our Tai Chi program!
Q: If I register for only one class per week, can I attend either day?
A: Floating training days are not permitted. You may attend only your registered session day and there are no make-up classes for absences.
Q: Can I carry over tuition credit for absences?
A: There are no make-up classes, tuition credits or carry-forwards with the following exception: you’re going to be away for two or more consecutive weeks. Contact us beforehand.
Q: Are there any breaks or holidays in the schedule?
A: Stat holidays are observed.
Q: I’m not sure. Sometimes I have trouble sticking to new things.
A: That’s okay. You’re going to face all sorts of inner challenges and excuses as to why you should give up or skip a class. Commit yourself to learning. Our instructors are here to help guide you. Everyone develops at their own pace. Start to change your inner dialogue. You deserve to feel great. Only you can make the change. Commit to one single step. And then another. And another!
Q: I’m used to being the one in charge.
A: Tai Chi will likely be a very rewarding (and possibly humbling) experience for you. The first thing you need is patience and the willingness to let go. Approach your experience with a beginner’s mind so you have room to grow.
Q: I’m just a beginner. I don’t know right from left. Is it okay to learn?
A: You are welcome here! Everyone starts at the beginning.
Q: I’m an advanced, seasoned expert.
A: No matter our level, we all have much to learn. Beginners and experienced train side by side for their mutual benefit.
Q: What’s a typical class like?
A: We start with a total body warm-up to strengthen the joints and improve circulation. This is often followed by health breathing exercises (chi kung) to promote balancing and increasing energy.
The main portion of the session covers a variety of Tai Chi movements and exercises, followed by a cooldown. Some exercises we all do together. Easy or challenging, there’s meaning to it all. Other times we’ll divide groups into level-appropriate assignments. And remember what we said about “at least three months”? This way, you’ll have the opportunity to experience a wider variety as part of the journey.
Our School welcomes all. Everyone is a work in progress and we support one another while pursuing our own development.
The session time goes quickly! The atmosphere in the training sessions are relaxed but focused.
Q: Will I sometimes feel overwhelmed?
A: It’s perfectly normal to feel this way when learning new things. Don’t worry, as you practice and get more comfortable with different skills, this will pass. And it’s okay to challenge your comfort zone.
Q: Will I feel bored sometimes?
A: In today’s society, sometimes we reach for instant gratification and stimulation. Our goal is not to constantly seek to acquire new material, but to seek personal growth. In order to grow into something new, we need to let go of some of the old ways that limit us or hold us back.
