Service Description

Mondays, 6PM. Runs four sessions, June 3 through June 24. Adults, all levels. Youth by special permission. Praying Mantis (tanglangquan) is a famous Kung Fu style from northern China. It is an eclectic system that uses many sophisticated techniques and fast footwork. This version of the White Ape Steals the Peach is from the Wong Hon Fun lineage, one of the famous mantis grandmasters. If this is your first mantis form, you’ll find it challenging and a lot of fun! While this form has only a few rows, it's packed with the mantis’ unique take on attack and defense, including hand techniques, footwork, locking, throwing and a couple specialty kicking techniques! A basic competency in Kung Fu foundational skills are highly recommended. The entire form will be learned in this course. On completion, participants will by and large, have memorized the form and be able to demonstrate in its entirety. Through proper practice, the form will evolve into a useful showpiece for future Kung Fu performances.
