Service Description

Saturdays at 10:30AM, this class will be held at Grant Road School Gym, 2501 Grant Rd. This 7-week course starts April 5 through June 7. Registration is through the Whitmore Park Community Association. https://whitmorepark.ca/kung-fu-classes/. No classes are held Saturdays April 19, 26 and May 17. Learning the Dragon and Lion dance is a great workout, builds lots of strength and endurance and is lots of fun! No experience necessary. The Dragon is the king of the celestial lucky creatures. A dragon costume requires nine performers to carry long poles in an intricate game of follow the leader. The result are captivating shapes and patterns that bring the Dragon to life as it soars amongst the clouds or dives deep into the seas! The Lion Dance is an exciting spectacle, part of the Kung Fu martial art tradition that delights, entertains and is said to bring good luck! Teamwork is a big part of the quest to make the lucky creature come to life. In this program, we’ll cover all the basic steps of a basic Lion Dance, with the objective of performing a dance in its entirety at the end of the course.
